The clouds were starting to move in so I wasn't sure if the weather would cooperate however you never know unless you are there

With some wildfires just southwest of Denver I headed out to City Park in early October to photograph the skyline at sunset

however like myself they were treated to the clouds lighting this first morning of 2012

a little snow fell and as I drove past the park I noticed the snow sticking to the track of the Cyclone

Positioning myself for sunrise I wait to the morning light to pick up more of this steam with the City of Denver in the background from just west of downtown

The park contains the southern most volcano in the Cascade Range which is Lassen Peak. Throughout the park you will find still active mud pots and other types of activity. I stopped in the park in late 2009 while on a road trip from Sacramento to Denver with a friend. Even in the short time we stopped at the park it was an interesting site to see in the fall and is on my list of places
